The Hopkinsville-Christian County Newcomers’ Club is a fun way to connect with your new home and form lasting friendships through:

• Monthly luncheon meetings
• Engaging Speakers
• Day and evening sub-groups

We are sponsored by BB&T Bank and a member of the Hopkinsville Chamber of Commerce.

Luncheon meetings are usually held the second Thursday of each month from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at various locations. All adults are welcome and babysitting is available during these meetings.

YOU determine your level of involvement in the meetings and sub-groups. Work full-time? Many members join us on their lunch hour or concentrate on the sub-group activities. Are you returning to Hopkinsville after being away for a while?  Please join us and reacquaint yourself with this area.

Community Services:  Every year we give donations to one or several charities.  It all depends on how much money we raise during the year.  Our money is raised through our 50/50 drawings at each luncheon meeting and other fund raisers held throughout the year.

HCC TO HOST OPERATION JUMPSTART CLASSES
New Program to Assist Aspiring Entrepreneurs Rena Young
5/8/2012 Hopkinsville Community College<http://hopkinsville.kctcs.edu/>

Local entrepreneurs will have the chance to participate in Operation JumpStart, an award-winning microenterprise development program, starting on May 17 at Hopkinsville Community College (HCC).

Operation JumpStart is a hands-on, 36-hour training program designed to help aspiring and existing entrepreneurs determine the feasibility of their business ideas while building essential business planning and preparation skills. Class topics include business concept development; market research and analysis; and pricing and financial projections. All classes are taught by certified instructors.

"We are so happy to be able to allow students to enroll in this first class at a special introductory registration fee of $99," according to HCC Training Specialist Lea Martin. "The regular fee is $299 per person, but we can offer this reduced price due to a generous grant which was awarded to Murray State University Regional Business and Innovation Center."

HCC's first section of the program will meet from 6 to 9 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays, May 17-June 25. There will be no class on Memorial Day and that class meeting will be made up on May 29. Students who successfully complete Operation JumpStart will participate in a graduation ceremony at 6 p.m. on June 28.

For more information or to register, visit the Workforce Solutions office in Auditorium Building Room 13 on HCC's campus, call Leigh Conyers at (270) 707-3750, or see the college's online catalog at http://ws.kctcs.edu/hopkinsville > Professional Development > Small Business Assistance > Operation JumpStart.
